We’ve been through a few different curriculum combinations since we started our homeschooling journey. I think we’ve finally found a good fit for our family. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ve used along the way.
We didn’t take a rigorous approach to kindergarten. I wanted to develop the love of learning more than death by worksheet, as such I took a mix and match, see what works, learn as we go approach. We also had a new baby in our house, so we adjusted our schedule and activities accordingly.
After “floating’ a bit in kindergarten, I wanted a more structured approach for this year. We joined 2 other homeschooling families for field trips and one of the local homeschool cooperatives.
We changed things up again this year. A friend and fellow homeschooler gave us her used Core B Instructor’s Guide from Sonlight when they were relocating out of state and had completed the program last year. After months of research and comparison, I decided to make the switch to Sonlight this year and so far it is been a wonderful fit for our family. We are able to enjoy collective learning and lesson comparisons with a couple of other families as well.
